Fazlur Rehman Urges Military Leadership to Reconsider Political Role, Rejects Decisions for One Individual

Peshawar (HRNW)- Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called for changes in political attitudes and urged the military leadership to reconsider its role in politics, saying that decisions affecting the country cannot be made for the sake of a single individual.

Addressing a JUI convention in Peshawar, Fazlur Rehman criticized recent legislation, saying that powers belonging to Parliament had been transferred to one individual. He maintained that no law contrary to the Quran and Sunnah should be passed and argued that the military should not interfere in political affairs.

The JUI-F chief also expressed concern over worsening law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, claiming that the government’s writ and police chain of command had weakened in several areas. He opposed proposals to divide provinces, saying the current situation was not suitable for such decisions.

Fazlur Rehman further criticized the government’s policies on terrorism, provincial rights and mineral resources, and called for justice and better governance. He said that ruling through oppression could not continue and urged those in authority to change their approach.
