Man Arrested for Allegedly Using Fake Marriage Promise to Assault and Threaten Woman

KARACHI (HRNW) — Shah Latif Town Police have arrested a man accused of allegedly deceiving a woman through a fake marriage arrangement, sexually assaulting her and subsequently threatening her.

According to police, the suspect was traced through technical investigation after an extensive search and was arrested near the residence of a relative in Abdullah Goth, Street 9.

According to the woman’s statement, the suspect allegedly promised to marry her in September 2025 and conducted a marriage ceremony through a mobile phone. She alleged that on March 5, 2026, the suspect came to her home while she was alone and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The woman further stated that she later discovered that the suspect was already married and had a wife and children. She also alleged that he continued to threaten her, after which she approached the police and reported the matter.

Legal Action and Investigation

Police said an FIR No. 1616/26 has been registered against the suspect under Sections 493-A and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), and further investigation is underway.

Investigators are examining the available evidence and statements from the parties involved.
