Damascus, Syria (HRNW) The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) confirmed on April 1 that over 200,000 people have fled into Syria from Lebanon within the past month to escape intensifying strikes. According to UN representative Asseer Al-Madaien, the majority of those crossing are Syrians who had previously sought safety in Lebanon and are now being forced to flee a second time. UN teams are currently preparing for the influx to reach 350,000 as families arrive with “very few belongings” and high levels of trauma.
