UN Human Rights Office Calls for Greater Protection of Civil Liberties

Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- On 29 June 2026, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) urged governments worldwide to strengthen the protection of fundamental freedoms, ensure equal access to justice, and uphold the rule of law.

The Office stressed that safeguarding freedom of expression, judicial independence, and protection from discrimination are essential for democratic governance and sustainable development.
