UNICEF 2026 Appeal: $7.66 Billion Needed to Reach 73 Million Children in Crisis

New York, United States (HRNW) — On March 24, 2026, UNICEF reiterated its 2026 Humanitarian Action for Children appeal, seeking $7.66 billion to support children living through unprecedented conflict and climate shocks. New data released during the week indicates that while global child mortality has halved since 2000, the pace of progress has slowed by 60% since 2015. The agency warned that children in fragile and conflict-affected settings—particularly in sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia—are now three times more likely to die before their fifth birthday than those in stable regions.
