Tehran (HRNW) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis to resolve their differences through dialogue and offered Iran’s assistance in helping settle the dispute.
In an interview with Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera, Pezeshkian said the Houthis’ actions were not connected to Iran and called for negotiations between the two sides. He also said Iran was prepared to help bring an end to the dispute.
Pezeshkian said regional countries should work together to address security issues and argued that the region did not need an external “regional policeman”. He also said Saudi Arabia could play a role in promoting greater unity among Islamic countries.
His comments come amid renewed fighting in Yemen involving the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces, adding to wider security tensions across the Middle East.
