43rd UN-Water Meeting: Global Clean Water Access Faces Geopolitical Hurdles

Rome, Italy (HRNW) — The 43rd UN-Water Meeting concluded today, March 25, 2026, at the headquarters of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Representatives from various UN agencies and partners gathered to coordinate the global approach to SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). The meeting highlighted how the recent escalation in Middle Eastern hostilities has caused fuel prices to double in regions like Somalia, subsequently driving up the cost of water and sanitation by over 100%. The body called for integrated governance to protect water infrastructure in conflict zones.
