New York (HRNW)- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed serious concern over the escalation of border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan while speaking from New York.
In a statement issued through his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, the Secretary-General said that the situation is being closely monitored. He urged both countries to fully comply with international law, especially international humanitarian law, and emphasized that protecting civilians must remain the highest priority during the ongoing tensions.
The UN called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and pursue peaceful dialogue to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
