UNESCO Calls for Greater Global Investment in Science for Sustainable Development

Paris (HRNW) – On 4 July 2026, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) renewed its call for stronger international cooperation in science and innovation ahead of the Global Conference of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033), scheduled later this month in Paris.

UNESCO stated that scientific research and innovation are essential to addressing climate change, food insecurity, public health challenges, biodiversity loss, and sustainable economic growth. The Organization urged governments, academic institutions, and the private sector to strengthen partnerships to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to UNESCO, the conference will bring together policymakers, scientists, researchers, and development partners to promote science-based solutions for global challenges and help shape a resilient post-2030 development agenda.
