UN Calls for Stronger Protection of Children Online

Geneva (HRNW) — The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has urged governments and technology companies to strengthen protections for children in digital spaces.

UN human rights officials warned that children are increasingly exposed to online exploitation, harassment, harmful content, and privacy risks. The agency emphasized that child safety must be integrated into digital platforms from the design stage rather than added later.

The UN called for stronger regulations and safeguards to ensure that children’s rights are protected in the rapidly evolving digital environment.
