Islamabad (HRNW): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a major relief measure for prepaid mobile users, setting the minimum validity of prepaid mobile recharge and balance at 180 days.
According to the PTA, the new rule will apply to all mobile operators from October 1, 2026.
Under the new policy, prepaid mobile recharge and balance will remain valid for at least 180 days. Even if the balance expires, the remaining balance will automatically be restored to the user when a new recharge is made.
However, the PTA clarified that the relevant SIM must remain active and usable for the previous balance to be restored.
The PTA described the move as part of its commitment to protecting consumer rights, promoting transparency and ensuring a fair business environment in the country’s telecommunications sector.
