PTI Karachi President Condemns FIR Against Protesters Demanding Justice for Mir Raza

Karachi (HRNW): PTI Karachi President Faheem Khan has strongly condemned the registration of a case against Karachi citizens protesting for justice in the Mir Raza murder case, instead of taking action against those responsible for the young trader’s death.

Faheem Khan said that taking action against protesters instead of arresting the alleged killers reflects the Sindh government’s failure. He said citizens demanding justice for Mir Raza are not criminals but people standing with the bereaved family.

He called for respect for citizens’ constitutional right to peaceful protest. Article 16 of the Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful assembly, while Article 19 provides the fundamental right to freedom of expression.

Faheem Khan demanded that instead of suppressing voices calling for justice, the actual perpetrators and facilitators allegedly involved in Mir Raza’s killing should be arrested and brought before the law.

He also called for a transparent and impartial investigation into the case and urged authorities to stop harassing citizens who are demanding justice.

The PTI Karachi president questioned the Sindh government over why the alleged killers of Mir Raza remain beyond the reach of the law. He said FIRs against protesters cannot silence the voice of Karachi’s citizens.

He said PTI Karachi stands with Mir Raza’s family and citizens protesting for justice and will continue raising the issue on every constitutional and legal forum until justice is delivered.

Human Rights Perspective

The right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression are fundamental rights of citizens. In the Mir Raza murder case, ensuring justice for the victim’s family, conducting a transparent and impartial investigation, and bringing those responsible before the law are of fundamental importance.

Citizens participating in peaceful protests should also be treated in accordance with the law and their fundamental rights.
