Karachi (HRNW): The Anti-Corruption Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two individuals, including an employee of the Passport Office, during an operation against an alleged agent mafia operating at the Passport Office in Saddar, Karachi.
According to the FIA, those arrested include alleged agent Muhammad Yousuf and Rehan, an LDC at the Saddar Passport Office.
Officials said the suspects are accused of allegedly taking money from citizens in exchange for facilitating the early issuance of passports, processing passports despite incomplete documentation, and allegedly bypassing official procedures.
The FIA has expanded its investigation into the alleged agent network operating at the Saddar Passport Office. Investigators are examining the possible involvement of other facilitators as well as government employees allegedly linked to the network.
According to FIA officials, proceedings for registration of a case against the arrested individuals are underway. Further arrests are expected if the investigation uncovers evidence of additional involvement.
