Geneva (HRNW) – The World Health Organization (WHO) on 1 July 2026 issued a warning regarding increasing pressure on global health systems, citing rising infectious disease risks, limited resources, and unequal access to healthcare services.
WHO experts stated that multiple regions are experiencing weakened surveillance systems and delayed response capacities due to funding constraints and post-crisis recovery challenges. The organization emphasized that health systems in low-income countries remain particularly vulnerable to sudden outbreaks.
The agency also highlighted the need for stronger international coordination to improve pandemic preparedness, vaccine distribution systems, and emergency medical response frameworks.
WHO urged member states to strengthen investment in public health infrastructure and adopt long-term strategies to ensure resilience against future global health emergencies.
