KARACHI (HRNW) — After a gap of nearly 26 years, the holy month of Ramadan is set to return during the winter season, bringing back nostalgic memories for those who experienced winter Ramadans in 1999 and 2000.
According to astronomical estimates, Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, although the final date will be determined by the sighting of the moon.
Winter Ramadan carries its own unique memories — waking up early for suhoor under a warm quilt, enjoying hot tea and parathas, shorter fasting hours and experiencing less thirst because of the cold weather.
Then comes iftar, with steaming hot pakoras, samosas and other traditional foods adding to the special atmosphere of winter Ramadan.
Many people from the younger generation may never have experienced Ramadan during winter, while for older generations, the season brings back cherished memories of family gatherings, simple traditions and the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan.
Human & Social Angle
Ramadan is not only a month of worship but also a time that promotes compassion, generosity, family bonds and social solidarity. Regardless of the season, its message includes caring for vulnerable people, understanding hardship and strengthening mutual support within society.
