KARACHI (HRNW) — MQM-P leader Dr. Farooq Sattar has said that Pakistan’s development is not possible without the creation of additional administrative units, arguing that the country must move beyond the existing status quo to progress.
Sattar said Karachi contributes around 60 percent to the country and 90 percent to Sindh, claiming that during his party’s previous tenure, the city was among the world’s fastest-growing cities.
He argued that the people of Sindh face a major challenge from the feudal and landlord system, and maintained that the creation of new administrative units would not amount to dividing Sindh but rather to devolving powers and resources.
According to Sattar, chief executives of new administrative units would be able to run their respective regions more effectively. He described the proposal as part of an effort to end dynastic politics and strengthen administrative accountability.
He also criticized political opponents, accusing them of misleading the public and attempting to conceal their alleged failures. Referring to alleged accountability cases, Sattar said that if existing files were not opened, chief executives of Larkana, Karachi and Hyderabad could eventually examine such matters.
Sattar further intensified his political rhetoric, saying his party would continue its struggle for major changes in Sindh’s administrative structure.
