Travel Time: Lahore Traffic Improves, Overtakes Islamabad and Karachi

LAHORE (HRNW) — Lahore has reportedly shown an improvement in travel time and traffic flow, moving ahead of Islamabad and Karachi, according to the World Traffic Index report.

The report states that cities in Switzerland, Austria, Sweden and Germany rank among those offering the best travel times worldwide.

The reported improvement in Lahore’s traffic flow is being viewed as a positive development for residents. However, the city continues to face challenges linked to population growth, increasing vehicle numbers and pressure on its road network.

Human Rights & Urban Mobility Angle

An efficient and reliable transport system is closely linked to people’s freedom of movement and access to employment, education and healthcare. Improved traffic flow can save commuters valuable time and fuel while potentially reducing congestion-related air pollution.

Authorities have a responsibility to improve traffic management while also ensuring safe and accessible infrastructure for public transport users, pedestrians, cyclists and people with disabilities.
