UN Raises Alarm After Attack on Peacekeeping Base in Lebanon

Beirut (HRNW) — The United Nations has expressed serious concern after a UN peacekeeping base in southern Lebanon was hit during ongoing hostilities.

Initial findings indicate that tank fire struck a base belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, injuring peacekeepers. The UN stressed that peacekeeping forces are protected under international law and must not be targeted.

Officials described the incident as a serious violation of international humanitarian law and warned that increasing attacks on UN personnel could undermine global peacekeeping operations.
