UN Warns of Extreme Weather Risks Linked to El Niño

Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- On 2 June 2026, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), a UN agency, warned that a potentially strong El Niño event could significantly increase global temperatures and trigger extreme weather conditions in the coming months.

The agency cautioned that droughts, floods, heatwaves, and other climate-related disasters could affect millions of people worldwide. UN officials urged governments to strengthen preparedness and climate resilience measures.
