Five Nations Elected to the UN Security Council

New York, United States (HRNW)- On 3 June 2026, the United Nations General Assembly elected Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago, and Zimbabwe as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.

The newly elected countries will begin their two-year terms on 1 January 2027, contributing to international peace and security discussions. The election was viewed as an important step in maintaining regional representation within the Council.
