UN Digital Agencies Finalize Preparations for WSIS+20 High-Level Event and WSIS Forum 2026

Geneva (HRNW) – On 4 July 2026, the United Nations and its specialized agencies finalized preparations for the WSIS+20 High-Level Event and WSIS Forum 2026, scheduled to open on 6 July in Geneva. Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with UNESCO, UNDP, UNCTAD and other UN partners, the event will bring together government leaders, policymakers, technology experts, private sector representatives, academia, and civil society from around the world.

The Forum will focus on advancing digital inclusion, artificial intelligence (AI) governance, cybersecurity, digital public infrastructure, innovation, and sustainable digital transformation. Participants will discuss strategies to bridge the global digital divide and ensure that emerging technologies contribute to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UN agencies emphasized that stronger international cooperation is essential to build an inclusive, secure, and people-centered digital future while promoting responsible and ethical use of emerging technologies.
