Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- On 19 May 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that antimicrobial resistance is becoming a major global public health threat.
According to WHO experts, misuse and overuse of antibiotics are reducing the effectiveness of life-saving medicines, making common infections increasingly difficult to treat. The agency called for urgent international cooperation to strengthen healthcare systems and promote responsible medical practices.
