UN Human Rights Council Passes Landmark Resolution Condemning Iran’s Missile and Drone Attacks

Geneva (HRNW)- The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has adopted a landmark resolution condemning Iran’s missile and drone attacks, with support from more than 100 countries. The emergency resolution, requested by Gulf countries and Jordan, strongly criticized Iran for actions deemed violations of international law.

The UAE Foreign Ministry expressed strong opposition to Iran’s targeting of airports, ports, and energy infrastructure, emphasizing that attacks on nations not involved in the conflict are unacceptable. The resolution also highlighted that Iran’s interference with shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab poses a serious threat to international peace, global trade, energy security, and supply chains.

Additionally, the UNHRC resolution reaffirmed support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of affected countries, calling on Iran to immediately cease attacks, avoid provocations, and provide full compensation to impacted parties. Political analysts note that the overwhelming support for this resolution reflects mounting international diplomatic pressure on Iran.
