Gaza, Palestine (HRNW)- On 30 April 2026, UN officials working in Gaza reported that explosive remnants of war continue to pose a serious threat to civilians.
According to UN mine action experts, since 2023, over 1,200 people have been killed or injured due to unexploded ordnance. The United Nations warned that children are among the most affected, urging urgent clearance operations and increased awareness programs to prevent further casualties.
The UN reiterated that protecting civilians from post-conflict hazards is a critical human rights priority.
