Washington (HRNW) – The administration of US President Donald Trump has stated that the Iran conflict effectively ended following a ceasefire that began in early April. According to media reports, officials in Washington say the war situation de-escalated after the ceasefire took effect on April 7, bringing active hostilities to a halt.
US Defense Secretary Pat Hegseth told the Senate on April 30 that the ceasefire had effectively ended the war situation, noting that the administration has not undertaken military action for more than 60 days under the 1973 War Powers Resolution, which requires congressional authorization for sustained military operations. A senior administration official, speaking anonymously, also stated that the conflict which reportedly began on February 28 has now concluded, adding that there has been no exchange of fire between US and Iranian forces since the ceasefire.
