New York, United States (HRNW)- During the UN press briefing on 30 April 2026, officials highlighted growing threats to press freedom and the safety of journalists worldwide, ahead of World Press Freedom Day.
The United Nations stressed that women journalists in particular face increasing risks, including harassment, violence, and digital threats. The organization called on governments to ensure accountability and protect media professionals as a cornerstone of democratic societies.
