Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- During a session on 6 April 2026, the UN Human Rights Council raised serious concerns about increasing restrictions on freedom of expression worldwide.
UN experts highlighted that journalists, activists, and digital users are facing growing censorship, harassment, and legal pressures in several countries. The Council stressed that misuse of laws to silence dissent is a direct violation of fundamental human rights and called on governments to ensure the protection of free speech and media independence.
