KYIV (HRNW): The United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission has reported a sharp increase in civilian casualties in Ukraine, with at least 437 civilians killed and 2,610 injured in July 2026.
According to the UN, July recorded the highest number of civilian deaths in Ukraine since May 2022 and the highest combined civilian casualty figure since March 2022. Child casualties also reached their highest level since April 2022, with 17 children killed and 166 injured.
Long-range missiles and drones accounted for 38% of the recorded civilian casualties, while aerial bombardments and short-range drones continued to pose a serious threat to civilians, including people living far from the front lines.

The continuing rise in civilian casualties highlights the urgent need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure under international humanitarian law and to ensure accountability for unlawful attacks.
