TRIPOLI (HRNW): Authorities in eastern Libya have executed 10 people convicted on terrorism-related charges following trials conducted by military courts.
The executions were carried out by firing squad at Qarnada military prison, according to reports. Libyan authorities said legal procedures had been followed, while human rights groups raised serious concerns about the fairness of military trials involving civilians.
Rights concerns have also focused on Libya’s continued use of the death penalty and questions surrounding due process and fair-trial guarantees.

HRNW stresses that even in cases involving terrorism allegations, every accused person is entitled to due process, an independent and impartial trial and legal representation. The death penalty remains one of the most serious human-rights issues internationally.
