Karachi (HRNW) — : Karachi Police has banned the use of promotional material that highlights the personal image or publicity of individual police officers.
According to a circular issued by Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan, all police units and concerned officials have been directed to ensure that official publicity focuses on the institutional identity of Karachi Police, public service and overall performance, rather than individuals.
The circular states that photographs or portraits of police officers will not be used on banners, billboards, hoardings, posters, standees, backdrops, advertisements or other promotional material.
The restriction also applies to promotional material displayed on police vehicles, outside police buildings and at other public locations, as well as content published through social media, electronic media and other media platforms.
According to the Karachi Police, the purpose of official publicity is not to promote individual officers but to highlight the department’s overall performance, public services, major initiatives, achievements and public awareness messages.
Exception for Police Martyrs
The circular allows photographs of police martyrs to be used respectfully during official commemorative events, tribute ceremonies, memorials and other authorized occasions.
All concerned officers have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the orders. In case of violations, responsibility will be determined and action will be taken against those found responsible.
Karachi Police stated that its primary objective is not to promote individuals but to strengthen the institution’s service delivery, performance and public trust.
