Kabul (HRNW)- Afghanistan continues to face a severe humanitarian crisis, with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and other Afghan sources expressing concern over worsening living conditions across the country.
According to the Afghan newspaper Hasht-e Subh, OCHA has said that millions of Afghan families continue to be affected by the humanitarian situation. In a message posted on the social media platform X, OCHA stated that despite receiving limited international media attention, many Afghans remain in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
The report cited OCHA as saying that widespread unemployment has contributed to growing food insecurity, with a large proportion of the population struggling to meet basic needs.
An Afghan citizen, quoted in the report, criticized the situation and said that shortages of clean drinking water have made daily life increasingly difficult for many communities.
According to Sediq Sediqqi, former spokesman for the former Afghan president, millions of Afghans are living below the poverty line, and he criticized the current Taliban administration over the country’s economic and humanitarian conditions.
The report also quoted Adem Wasorno, Director of the Organization for Humanitarian Affairs, as saying that limited resources and restrictions affecting women have further intensified the humanitarian challenges facing the Afghan population.
