UNEP Warns Environmental Damage Is Fueling Humanitarian Crises

Nairobi, Kenya (HRNW)- On 18 May 2026, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) warned that environmental destruction and climate-related disasters are worsening humanitarian crises globally.

UNEP officials stated that droughts, floods, and environmental degradation are increasing food insecurity, displacement, and poverty in vulnerable countries. The agency urged immediate global action to strengthen environmental resilience and sustainable development.
