UNESCO Stresses Protection of Journalists and Academic Freedom

Paris, France (HRNW)- On 22 May 2026, UNESCO expressed concern over growing threats to journalists, researchers, and academic institutions worldwide.

The organization emphasized that freedom of expression, access to information, and academic independence are essential pillars of democratic societies. UNESCO called on governments to safeguard media freedom and protect educational and research institutions.
