WHO Highlights the Importance of Food Safety on World Food Safety Day

Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- On 7 June 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO), together with partner UN agencies, marked World Food Safety Day under the theme: “Food Safety: Science in Action.”

WHO emphasized that unsafe food causes millions of illnesses each year and called for stronger food safety systems, scientific innovation, and public awareness to reduce foodborne diseases and protect public health worldwide.
