TEL AVIV/JERUSALEM (HRNW) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear to US President Donald Trump that Israel reserves the right to act against threats including Lebanon despite the ongoing Iran-US peace negotiations. According to foreign media reports, Netanyahu emphasized during talks with President Trump that Israel will maintain freedom of action on all fronts, including against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Reports suggest that the United States and Iran are close to finalizing a memorandum of understanding aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and reducing tensions in the Middle East. Israeli officials stated that President Trump reaffirmed support for Israel’s security concerns while continuing diplomatic efforts regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
According to Iranian media, the proposed agreement includes commitments that neither side nor their allies would launch attacks against each other. However, Israeli political leaders have expressed concerns that any ceasefire arrangement involving Lebanon could strengthen Hezbollah.
Israeli sources further claimed that Washington continues to brief Israel on negotiations with Iran, while President Trump has insisted that Iran’s nuclear program must be dismantled before any final agreement is signed.
