Beirut (HRNW) – Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem has stated that the Lebanese resistance movement will not surrender its weapons, saying they are necessary to prevent what he described as Israeli aggression and violence in Lebanon.
According to the Iranian news agency, Sheikh Naim Qassem addressed a ceremony titled “Resistance and Freedom,” where he said that the resistance movement continues the mission and leadership legacy of the late Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
He firmly rejected the possibility of Hezbollah disarming and criticized direct negotiations conducted by the Lebanese government with Israel and the United States, claiming that such diplomacy mainly serves Israeli interests.
Qassem said the Lebanese government had failed to achieve meaningful results despite 15 months of diplomatic engagement with Israel.
He further alleged that the United States is not acting as a neutral mediator in Lebanon and is instead pursuing its own regional interests.
The Hezbollah leader warned that disarming the group could expose Lebanon to further Israeli attacks and maintained that Hezbollah would retain its weapons until the Lebanese state is capable of independently protecting the country.
He also accused Israel of pursuing expansionist policies aimed at weakening and eliminating the resistance movement in Lebanon.
During his speech, Naim Qassem additionally claimed that Iran, under the leadership of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, had successfully resisted pressure from both the United States and Israel.
