Iran Signals Strait of Hormuz Will Not Fully Return to Pre-War Status Despite Initial US Agreement

Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian officials have indicated that despite the initial agreement with the United States, the Strait of Hormuz will not be restored to its pre-war status.

According to an Iranian media report, informed sources said that even if the initial points of the agreement with the United States are determined and agreed upon, the legal and administrative status of the Strait of Hormuz cannot be changed, but the number of ships passing through it may change.

The sources said that in particular, the number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz will be allowed to return to the pre-war status within 30 days.

The report said that the details emerging from a possible initial agreement between Iran and the United States indicate that the Strait of Hormuz will not be restored to its pre-war status, although Western media claimed to the contrary that Iran is ready to maintain its sovereign authority over the Strait of Hormuz without any agreement.

Based on the information received regarding the agreement, it was further reported that the possible agreement would also include the US Navy blockade, which would be completely lifted within 30 days under the Memorandum of Understanding, and if the blockade is not lifted, there would be no change in the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
