KARACHI (HRNW) – The wave of illegal constructions in the Azizabad area remains unchecked, with a new project coming to light that raises serious questions regarding the performance and alleged negligence of the relevant authorities.
Open Violation of Building Laws
According to details, building regulations have been blatantly disregarded at Plot No. 501, Block 2, Azizabad. Despite reportedly having permission for only Ground plus Two (G+2) floors, additional illegal portions and six shops have allegedly been constructed on the site. Visual evidence clearly indicates that not only have extra floors been added, but commercial activities (shops) have also commenced on a residential plot, marking a direct violation of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) laws.
Residents Protest and Demand Accountability
Local residents have expressed deep concern over the situation, noting that while the government frequently claims to be cracking down on illegal structures, such projects are being completed in broad daylight. Citizens are questioning under whose patronage these constructions are taking place and why the relevant building inspectors and officials remain silent spectators to these violations.
Appeal to High Authorities
The community has demanded an immediate and transparent investigation into the matter. They are calling for strict departmental and legal action against the builder and the officials who allowed this violation to occur. Residents have urged high-ranking authorities to:
-
Immediately seal the illegal building.
-
Register an FIR against those responsible.
-
Demolish the illegally constructed shops and additional portions.
