Turkish Intelligence Chief Warns Iran War Could Spark Decades-Long Regional Conflict

Ankara (HRNW)- Head of Turkey’s intelligence agency, Ibrahim Kalin, has warned that the ongoing war involving Iran could lay the groundwork for a prolonged and dangerous regional conflict lasting decades. Speaking on the issue, he said the situation has moved beyond a limited war and is pushing the entire region toward a deep and long-term crisis with global consequences.

Kalin appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic role in promoting peace, stating that Turkey fully supports efforts aimed at dialogue and negotiation, which he described as the only effective path to reducing tensions. While condemning Iran’s attacks on Gulf countries as unacceptable, he stressed that the origins of the conflict must also be acknowledged and addressed responsibly.

He further cautioned that continued war could deepen divisions among Turkish, Kurdish, Arab, and Persian populations, destabilizing the region further. According to him, past limited conflicts were precursors to the current escalation, and prolonged fighting could reshape geopolitical realities in Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and beyond.

Experts believe Kalin’s remarks highlight the urgent need for diplomatic intervention, as escalating tensions pose a serious threat to regional and global stability.
