Ankara (HRNW)- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, while addressing the NATO Summit, called on all member states to strengthen mutual solidarity, saying that a united alliance is essential for ensuring collective security.
President Erdogan said that full coordination and cooperation among NATO allies is the need of the hour. He stressed that anything that could harm relations among allied countries on both sides of the Atlantic should be avoided.
He emphasized that the alliance’s strength is directly linked to security and urged member states to avoid disagreements that could create division or weaken NATO.
The Turkish president expressed hope that the NATO Summit in Ankara would contribute to promoting global peace, regional stability, and closer cooperation among member countries.
On the second day of the summit, President Erdogan and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed heads of state and official delegations from various countries. World leaders were received with traditional handshakes and participated in a group photograph before the formal proceedings began.
The summit agenda includes discussions on key issues such as challenges facing the alliance, global security, the situation in Ukraine, and NATO’s future defense strategy.
According to the Turkish Presidency, President Erdogan is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the summit to discuss regional security, defense cooperation, and bilateral relations.
Turkey has been a member of NATO since 1952 and has remained a key member of the alliance for more than seven decades.
