New York (HRNW)- The horrific torture of Palestinian journalists imprisoned in Israeli prisons has been revealed. The Committee to Protect Journalists, an international organization working to protect the rights of journalists, has revealed in its report the horrific torture of Palestinian journalists imprisoned in Israeli prisons.
56 Palestinian journalists were subjected to the worst torture and abuse by the Israeli authorities during their detention. Music was continuously played at very loud volumes to mentally torture these journalists.
The report states that 17 Palestinian journalists were also subjected to horrific incidents of sexual violence. In addition, 55 journalists were not even provided with food in prisons. According to the organization, the main purpose of this torture was to prevent the real situation in Gaza and the West Bank from reaching the public.
The report specifically mentions the atrocities committed against Palestinian journalist Ahmed Abdel-Aal. Ahmed Abdel-Aal was kept blindfolded for 5 days and was continuously played loud songs. According to the report, when they lost consciousness due to mental stress or pain, they were brought back to consciousness by giving them electric shocks.
