Four Acquitted in 20kg Cannabis Recovery Case by Karachi Court

Karachi (HRNW): A District and Sessions Court (South) has acquitted four accused in a case involving the alleged recovery of 20 kilograms of cannabis, ruling that the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt.

The acquitted individuals are Sher Zaman, Gulab Khan, Saqib, and Abdul Rauf. The court ordered their immediate release from jail, provided they are not required in any other case.

According to the prosecution, the accused were arrested by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on 31 November 2025 within the jurisdiction of Frere Police Station, and a total of 20 kilograms of cannabis was allegedly recovered from four bags in their possession.

During the proceedings, defense counsel argued that the accused were innocent and had been falsely implicated by the police. The defense also contended that the prosecution witnesses gave contradictory statements, undermining the credibility of the case.

After reviewing the evidence, the court held that the prosecution had failed to establish the allegations and acquitted all four accused due to insufficient evidence.
