Five Mosques Demolished During Government Operation in India’s Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh (HRNW): Five mosques were demolished during a government operation in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, according to local reports.

Sources said the authorities carried out the demolition after alleging that the structures had been constructed without the required legal approvals and in violation of applicable building regulations. Officials maintained that the action was conducted in accordance with administrative procedures and the law.

The demolitions have, however, drawn concern from members of the local Muslim community and human rights advocates, who have questioned the impact of such actions on religious freedom and minority rights.

The incident follows previous demolitions of religious structures in various Indian states during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which have also attracted domestic and international criticism from some rights organizations and observers.

According to local sources, tensions remain in the affected areas, while residents have called on the authorities to safeguard religious freedom and uphold constitutional rights.
