Israeli Airstrike on Southern Lebanon Kills Children and Civilians Amid Escalating Conflict

Beirut (HRNW) – At least five people, including children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential building in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese state news agency. The attack is being described as one of the deadliest incidents since the recent ceasefire in the country.

Reports said that three children from the same family were among those killed in the strike.

According to local media, rescue teams, civil defense workers, and volunteers continued search operations under the rubble to locate more victims and injured persons, while officials fear the death toll may rise further.

The targeted residential building was completely destroyed, and nearby homes also suffered severe damage. Residents say Israeli attacks in the region have intensified, leaving civilians increasingly vulnerable.

A spokesperson for Lebanon’s Ministry of Health stated that at least 10 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon during the past 24 hours, including six aid workers, a Syrian girl, and several civilians.

Since March 2026, the ongoing conflict in Lebanon has reportedly claimed more than 3,000 lives and displaced millions of civilians.

The Israeli military says it is targeting Hezbollah military infrastructure and bases in southern Lebanon. However, Lebanese authorities and human rights organizations argue that civilian neighborhoods and residential buildings are repeatedly being hit, calling such attacks violations of international law.
