Nation Marks 47th Death Anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with Prayer Ceremonies and Tributes

Karachi/Larkana (HRNW)- The 47th death anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party founder and former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is being observed with devotion and respect across the country today.

Due to the austerity policy, the traditional public meeting is not being held at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, however, prayer ceremonies and Quran recitations have been organized in district headquarters across the country.

The founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was born in Larkana in 1928. He received higher education from the University of Southern California and Oxford University and later made law his profession.

While founding the PPP in 1967, he gave the slogan of “Roti, Kapra aur Makan” and breathed new life into public politics.

During Bhutto’s rule, Pakistan got its first unanimous constitution, the foundation of the nuclear program was laid, and several national production institutions including the Pakistan Steel Mill were established. Later, on the presidential reference, the Supreme Court declared Zulfikar Ali Bhutto innocent and on March 23, 2025, he was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Pakistan, which was received by his daughter Sanam Bhutto.

On April 4, 1979, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged on a court order, which is considered a dark chapter in the history of Pakistani politics.

According to party sources regarding today’s ceremonies, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will attend the Quran recitation in Larkana while Aseefa Bhutto will attend the Quran recitation at Bilawal House in Karachi.
