Islamabad (HRNW)- The 51st International Nathia Gali Summer College, organized by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), has officially commenced, bringing together leading scientists from around the world to discuss the latest developments in science and technology.
Prominent scientists from 20 countries across five continents have arrived in Pakistan to participate in the event. A total of 45 internationally renowned scientists will deliver lectures and exchange ideas on cutting-edge scientific research and emerging technologies during the summer college.
The long-standing global scientific tradition established by Professor Dr. Abdus Salam has continued for more than five decades, with the strong participation of international experts reflecting the global scientific community’s confidence in Pakistan.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, PAEC Chairman Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar said that Professor Abdus Salam’s vision continues to inspire scientists around the world and that science and technology remain key drivers of national development.
He said that artificial intelligence and quantum technology are reshaping the future and emphasized that Pakistan must further increase investment in scientific research to remain competitive globally.
The PAEC Chairman added that Pakistan’s young scientists are the country’s greatest asset and future. He highlighted that six nuclear power plants are supplying clean electricity to the national grid, while PAEC’s 21 cancer hospitals are providing treatment to nearly 80 percent of cancer patients across the country.
Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar also said that PAEC is addressing food security and climate change challenges through agricultural research and continues to make significant progress in basic science and advanced research. He stressed that strengthening international scientific cooperation remains one of PAEC’s top priorities.
