Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Credits Pakistan’s Diplomacy for Regional Ceasefire

ISLAMABAD (HRNW): Addressing a meeting of the Federal Cabinet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that a regional ceasefire was achieved and subsequently extended through Pakistan’s intensive diplomatic efforts. The Prime Minister noted that the cabinet is being kept informed of key developments that have unfolded in recent weeks, emphasizing Pakistan’s robust role in establishing regional peace.

According to the Prime Minister, a critical 21-hour negotiation session between Iran and the United States commenced in Islamabad on April 11, which successfully led to the ceasefire and its further extension. He credited Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and his team, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their pivotal roles in this process, while also mentioning the significant visit and negotiations held by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Prime Minister Sharif further observed that the regional situation had triggered a rise in global oil prices, which consequently impacted Pakistan’s import bill. He assured that the government is taking continuous measures to address these economic challenges and expressed hope for a swift end to regional tensions and the establishment of lasting peace through Pakistan’s ongoing efforts.
