Tehran (HRNW)- The funeral prayers of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei were attended by his three sons, Massoud Khamenei, Maysam Khamenei, and Mustafa Khamenei, while his son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, did not attend the ceremony due to reported security concerns.
According to international media reports, millions of people participated in the funeral prayers held in Tehran. The ceremony was attended by senior Iranian government officials, religious leaders, representatives from various countries, and large numbers of mourners.
Reports said that Massoud, Maysam, and Mustafa Khamenei were seen among the mourners during the funeral prayers, while Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, the acting head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, also attended the ceremony.
According to sources, Mojtaba Khamenei did not participate in the funeral because of serious security concerns. Although Iranian authorities have not officially disclosed details, media reports suggest that his public appearances have been restricted due to potential security threats.
Funeral and burial ceremonies for Ali Khamenei are expected to continue for several days across Iran. Condolence gatherings and prayer services are also being held in various cities, with hundreds of thousands of people expected to participate.
Political observers say the presence of foreign delegations and senior Iranian officials at the ceremonies highlights the event’s significance amid the current regional political situation.
