AJK Election Commission Releases Final Candidate List for 2026 General Elections

Muzaffarabad (HRNW)- The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has released the final list of candidates for the 2026 general elections, confirming that 852 candidates will contest elections across 45 constituencies, while more than 320 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers.

According to the Election Commission, Kotli has the highest number of contestants, with 135 candidates competing in six constituencies. Muzaffarabad and Poonch/Sudhnoti each have 126 candidates, contesting five and seven constituencies, respectively.

The Commission further stated that 98 candidates will contest from four constituencies in Mirpur, 83 candidates from four constituencies in Bagh and Haveli, 63 candidates from three constituencies in Bhimber, 51 candidates from two constituencies in Neelum, and 34 candidates from Jhelum Valley.

In addition, 126 candidates will compete for 12 reserved refugee constituencies.

The Election Commission also announced that election symbols have been allotted to 24 registered political parties, while symbols for independent candidates will be issued shortly as part of the election process.
