Tokyo (HRNW)- Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has shared a humorous story about spotting a cockroach at the official prime ministerial residence, saying she felt unexpectedly relieved yet slightly lonely after staff removed it.
Takaichi said she has never seen a ghost at the residence, despite longstanding rumors that the building is haunted, but she has encountered cockroaches there. She recalled screaming after seeing one but chose not to kill it herself because she thought about the possibility of reincarnation.
According to the prime minister, she hoped the cockroach would eventually leave on its own. However, after she informed her aides, staff members considered its presence unhygienic and used insecticide to remove it.
Takaichi said she was relieved that the cockroach was gone but also admitted that she felt “a little sad and lonely” afterward.
